The NAEA,Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and VSA arts Beverly Levett Gerber Special Needs Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a NAEA/SNAE member whose lifetime career has made a unique and lasting impact on art education for students with special needs. It recognizes a career of outstanding achievement, service, and commitment to art education’s important role in the lives of people with special needs. Eligibility: Active NAEA/SNAE members who have brought distinction to the field of special needs art education through an exceptional and continuous record of achievement which has significantly impacted students with disabilities and special needs. Lisa Kay, Ph.D. of Philadelphia, PA. is the recipient of the 2015 NAEA, CEC, VSA Peter J. Geisser Special Needs Art Educator
Award. The NAEA,the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and VSA arts Special Needs Art Educator of the Year Award recognizes an NAEA member for outstanding achievement, service, and leadership in providing exemplary art education to students with special needs. Further, this award recognizes the recipient’s commitment to art education’s important role in the lives of people with special needs, mentoring their art accomplishments in the schools and in the community. Eligibility: Active NAEA members who have brought distinction to the field of special needs art education through an exceptional and continuous record of achievement which has impacted significantly on students with disabilities and special needs.(Current SNAE officers may not be nominated.)
